## Short answer

**Can Claude Code write TikTok scripts for developer content from my repository?**

Yes, for the writing and the draft. Claude Code reads the concept or code you point at, runs it to confirm it works, writes a 30-second script with a caption and hashtags and saves a draft through Tareno once your vertical recording is in the library. It cannot record the screen, and a scheduling request stays pending until you approve it.

Developer education on TikTok runs on one habit: a single idea, shown in thirty seconds, with a result you can see. The ideas already live in your repository, in a tricky function, a surprising default or a bug you fixed last week. Claude Code can find the one worth a clip, make sure the code does what the clip claims and write the script around it. This page covers the full path for a developer-educator account: picking a concept, running the code, writing for a 30-second screen recording, handling the creator settings and approving the post in Tareno.

## Example: a developer educator explains a floating-point surprise

Imagine an educator who posts coding explainers. In a teaching repository she asks Claude Code for the three most surprising behaviors in the examples folder. It names a floating-point comparison and runs it to show the output. She chooses it, and Claude Code writes a 30-second script: the question, the line of code, the result on screen and the one-sentence reason. It also writes a caption with four hashtags. She records the terminal vertically with her voice, adds the clip to the Tareno library, and Claude Code finds it with `list_media`, reads the creator options through `get_platform_options` and saves the draft with `create_drafts`. She approves a Tuesday 18:00 slot.

## Step by step

1. **Ask for the surprising behaviors.** Have Claude Code scan an examples folder or a recent fix for behavior that would surprise a learner. A good explainer starts from a question the viewer would have gotten wrong.
2. **Run the code and show the output.** Ask it to run the snippet and paste the exact output. A clip that shows output that differs from the script is worse than no clip.
3. **Write for thirty seconds.** Ask for a spoken script of about 30 seconds: the question, the code, the result and a one-sentence reason. Short sentences, because the voiceover has to keep pace with the terminal.
4. **Record, with sound, and clean the frame.** Record vertically with your voice, because TikTok video in Tareno needs an audio track, and check the frame for keys, hostnames and usernames. Add the file to the library.
5. **Read the creator options.** Claude Code calls `get_platform_options` for your TikTok account and reports the allowed privacy levels and the comment setting, so you choose before the draft is saved.
6. **Save, request and approve.** Claude Code pairs the clip and caption through `create_drafts`. Give a date and an IANA time zone for the request, and approve it in the Tareno dashboard.

## Prompts to copy

### Find the surprise

```text
Scan the examples folder and list the three behaviors that would most surprise a beginner. For each give the file, the question a viewer would answer wrongly and the real result. Do not write a script yet.
```

### Run and script

```text
Run the floating-point example from examples/floats.py and paste its exact output. Then write a 30-second spoken script that follows that output line by line, plus a caption of under 150 characters with four hashtags for developers.
```

### Options and draft

```text
Use Tareno to read the TikTok creator options for my account [name] and tell me which privacy levels I can choose. Then find [floats-explainer.mp4] in my media library and save it as a TikTok draft with the caption above, once I confirm the privacy level.
```

### Request the slot

```text
Ask Tareno to schedule draft [draft ID] for [Tuesday 18:00] in the [Europe/Berlin] time zone. Return the pending action ID and remind me that I must approve it in the Tareno dashboard before it can go live.
```

## TikTok in Tareno

- Tareno's configuration for TikTok requires an audio track on video, so a screen recording without narration or music will not pass; record with your voice from the start.
- TikTok captions in Tareno allow far more text than an explainer needs, but they take no links, so a link to the repository belongs in your bio.
- TikTok returns the creator options per account, and its documentation lists privacy levels, comment, duet and stitch settings and the maximum video length among them.
- Developer content gets many comments, but Tareno has no comment reading for TikTok, so collect questions in the app and paste the good ones to Claude Code for follow-up scripts.

Official rules ([TikTok for Developers: Content Posting API](https://developers.tiktok.com/doc/content-posting-api-get-started), checked 2026-10-24):

- Direct posting needs an app that is approved for the video.publish scope. Content posted by unaudited clients is restricted to private viewing until the client passes TikTok's audit.
- Before a direct post, the creator's current options must be queried: the allowed privacy levels, whether comments, duets and stitches are disabled, and the maximum video duration. In Tareno this is get_platform_options with the option tiktok_creator_info.

## Mistakes to avoid

- Filming code that has not been run. If the output on screen differs from your script, viewers will point it out in the first comment.
- Recording without audio. TikTok video in Tareno needs sound, and a voiceover is also what keeps developers watching a terminal.
- Showing a real hostname or token in the frame. Use a clean shell profile and test values.
- Explaining three things in 30 seconds. One concept, one result, one reason is the whole clip.

## What does not work

- Claude Code cannot record the screen or the voiceover, so the clip must exist in your Tareno media library before a draft can be saved.
- It cannot read comments on your TikTok videos through Tareno, because comment reading is not available for that network.
- It cannot publish by itself, since scheduling and publishing requests wait for your approval in the Tareno dashboard.

## Frequently asked questions

### Can Claude Code write TikTok scripts about code?

Yes. It finds a concept in your repository, can run the snippet to confirm the output and writes a 30-second script with a caption. You record the clip with sound and add it to your Tareno library.

### Why must the clip have sound?

Tareno's configuration for TikTok video lists an audio track as required. A silent terminal recording fails that check, and a voiceover also makes a code explainer easier to follow, so record your own narration.

### How long should a code explainer be?

About 30 seconds works for one idea. Tareno's configuration lists 3 seconds to 10 minutes for TikTok video, but a short clip that shows one result keeps viewers until the end.

### Can I link the repository in the caption?

No. Links are not supported in the TikTok text in Tareno's configuration. Put the link in your bio and say in the clip or caption that the code is linked in the profile.

### What are the creator options Claude Code reads?

They are per-account settings from TikTok, such as the allowed privacy levels and whether comments, duets and stitches are disabled. Claude Code reads them through Tareno so you choose with the real options in front of you.

### Will the clip go live without my approval?

No. A scheduling request becomes a pending action in Tareno. TikTok receives the clip only after you approve it in the dashboard, and `get_action_status` shows what happened afterwards.

## Tareno tools used

- `list_media`
- `get_platform_options`
- `create_drafts`
- `get_action_status`

Approval model: Tareno saves drafts directly. Scheduling, publishing, edits to scheduled posts and deletions become pending actions that a person approves in the Tareno dashboard; no agent can approve them.
