## Short answer

**Can Cursor turn new products in our product feed into Pinterest pin drafts?**

Yes. Cursor reads the product feed file in your repository, picks the products added since the last batch, writes a title and description for each, finds the photos in your Tareno library and saves drafts to the right board. It cannot see live stock, and scheduling stays pending until you approve it in Tareno.

A shop built in code usually has a product feed: a JSON or CSV file that feeds the site, the newsletter and the ad platforms. It has everything a pin needs, a name, attributes, a URL and a price, and it is already in the editor where the developer spends the day. Cursor can read the feed, notice what is new and write the pins in the same session in which the products were added. This page follows a developer who runs a small outdoor-gear shop, covering what to take from the feed, what to leave out and what the editor cannot know, which is whether the product is actually in stock right now.

## Example: an outdoor-gear shop pins the week's new products

Imagine a shop that added six products to products.json this week. In Cursor the developer asks for pins for the new entries only. Cursor compares the feed with the pins listed through `list_account_posts`, finds the six without pins, and notices that two entries lack a tall photo name. It writes pin titles within 100 characters starting with the product type, descriptions built from the feed's material and weight fields, and links to the product pages. It finds the four photos it can with `list_media`, saves four drafts with `create_drafts`, and tells her which two are blocked.

## Step by step

1. **Name the feed and the cutoff.** Tell Cursor the feed file and the date of the last batch. It compares entries with the pins on the account, so you do not have to track which products were pinned.
2. **Compare with existing pins.** Cursor lists the account's pins with `list_account_posts`. Pinterest is a network where Tareno can list pins, including ones created outside Tareno, so the comparison reflects reality.
3. **Read only the fields you trust.** Ask Cursor to use name, material, weight, colour and URL, and to leave out price and stock. Both change, and a pin lasts longer than either.
4. **Match tall photos.** Cursor finds the photo for each product with `list_media` and flags entries with no photo or a wide one. Tareno's configuration recommends a tall 2:3 image for Pinterest.
5. **Write and save.** Cursor writes the titles and descriptions, lists boards with `get_platform_options` and saves the drafts through `create_drafts` with the product URL as the pin's link.
6. **Confirm stock, then request times.** Check stock in the shop admin yourself, then give days, times and an IANA time zone. The requests become pending actions, and you approve them in the Tareno dashboard.

## Prompts to copy

### Find products without pins

```text
Read products.json and use Tareno to list the pins on my Pinterest account [name]. Tell me which products added after [2026-10-01] have no pin yet, which entries lack a photo name or a URL, and which of them you would skip for that reason.
```

### Choose the fields

```text
For each product without a pin, show me the fields you would use for the pin text: name, material, weight, colour and URL. Confirm that you will not use price or stock, and tell me if a field you need is empty in the feed.
```

### Write the pins

```text
Write a Pinterest title of at most 100 characters starting with the product type and a description of about 300 characters using only the chosen fields, plus one sentence of alt text, for each product with complete data. Count the characters of every title.
```

### Save the drafts

```text
Use Tareno to find the photos named in the feed, list my Pinterest boards and save the approved pins as drafts with the product URL as the link and the board I confirm. Return a table with draft ID, product and board, and request no times yet.
```

## Pinterest in Tareno

- Tareno's configuration for Pinterest puts the destination link in its own field and gives no automatic preview, so the product URL from the feed is a field of the pin and not part of the description.
- Pinterest's API description requires a board ID for a pin and allows titles up to 100 characters and descriptions up to 800, while Tareno's configuration stops descriptions at 500.
- Tareno allows one image per Pinterest pin and requires media, so a product without a tall photo cannot be pinned until it has one.
- Tareno does not read comments on Pinterest pins, so questions from visitors about a product are answered on Pinterest.

Official rules ([Pinterest API v5 description (OpenAPI 5.28.0): create a Pin](https://developers.pinterest.com/docs/api/v5/pins-create/), checked 2026-10-24):

- Every Pin is created on a board, so the request needs a board ID. The title may be up to 100 characters and the description up to 800.
- Alt text may be up to 500 characters and the destination link up to 2,048. Both are optional in the API.
- Tareno's configuration for Pinterest is stricter than the API: media is required, descriptions stop at 500 characters, and the link goes into its own field.

## Mistakes to avoid

- Putting the price in the pin. It changes faster than a pin ages.
- Pinning a product that is sold out. Cursor cannot see stock, so check it.
- Using the feed's marketing name as the title. Start with the product type that people search.
- Forgetting a URL check. A pin that links to a broken product page loses the visit.

## What does not work

- Cursor cannot see live stock or prices, so the shop owner confirms them in the shop admin before a request is approved.
- It cannot create a Pinterest board through Tareno, so a board for a new product line has to exist on Pinterest first.
- It cannot publish a pin on its own, since a time request becomes a pin only after you approve it in the Tareno dashboard.

## Frequently asked questions

### Can Cursor tell which products already have pins?

Yes. It lists the pins on the connected Pinterest account through Tareno, including pins created outside Tareno, and compares them with the feed. Ask it to report how it matched them, since titles rarely equal product names.

### Why leave price and stock out of the pin?

Because a pin can stay visible for months and both change. The product page the pin links to is the right place for them, and the pin text can stay accurate for longer.

### What if a product has no tall photo?

Cursor reports it and skips the pin. Tareno requires media for Pinterest and recommends a 2:3 image, so add a portrait photo to the library and ask again.

### Can it run on every deploy?

It can prepare drafts, but an automated run should only read and create drafts. Keep scheduling out of it, so a person approves each request in the Tareno dashboard.

### Does Cursor need a special setup for Pinterest?

No. The same Tareno connection serves every network, so once your Pinterest account shows up when you ask Cursor to list your accounts, the workflow needs a feed, photos and a board.

### Will pins appear before I approve them?

No. A time request is a pending action in Tareno, and Pinterest receives the pin only after you approve it in the dashboard. `get_action_status` shows what happened afterwards.

## Tareno tools used

- `list_account_posts`
- `list_media`
- `get_platform_options`
- `create_drafts`
- `get_action_status`

Approval model: Tareno saves drafts directly. Scheduling, publishing, edits to scheduled posts and deletions become pending actions that a person approves in the Tareno dashboard; no agent can approve them.
