Connect Codex to Tareno to turn exercises from a teaching repository into spot-the-bug TikTok scripts and captions, pair them with your recording and approve the slot in Tareno.
Can Codex turn coding exercises into TikTok scripts and drafts?
Yes, over a remote MCP connection with OAuth. Codex reads your exercise repository, finds a bug worth a clip, runs the buggy and the fixed version, writes a 30-second script and a caption and saves a draft through Tareno once your recording is in the library. It cannot record, and scheduling stays pending until you approve it.
Spot-the-bug videos work because the viewer takes part: the code is on screen for a few seconds, and they hunt for the mistake before the answer. Bootcamps and teachers already have the material, because every exercise repository contains the bugs students actually make. Codex can read that repository, pick a bug that is visible in ten lines and prove it with a run. This page follows a coding-bootcamp instructor who posts one bug a week, including how Codex checks the code, how the script is timed to the clip and why TikTok's sound requirement matters for a screen recording.
Example: a bootcamp instructor posts a bug a week
Imagine an instructor who keeps a repository of exercises with the mistakes students make most. For this week she asks Codex for a bug that fits in ten lines of Python. Codex picks an off-by-one error in a loop, runs the buggy and the fixed version and pastes both outputs. It writes a 30-second script with a pause where the viewer can look for the bug, and a caption with a question and four hashtags. She records the screen with her voice, adds the clip to the Tareno library, and Codex finds it with list_media, reads the creator options through get_platform_options and saves the draft with create_drafts. She approves a Wednesday 17:30 slot.
Step by step
01
Connect Codex to Tareno
Add the remote MCP server with the Codex command line and sign in with OAuth, as described on the Codex hub page. A ChatGPT installation does not carry over to Codex.
02
Pick a bug that fits on screen
Ask Codex for a bug that is visible in ten lines or fewer. If the viewer cannot read the code in three seconds, the format fails.
03
Run both versions
Ask Codex to run the buggy and the fixed code and report the output of each. The clip has to show a real difference, not a described one.
04
Time the script to the clip
Ask for a 30-second script with a deliberate pause for the viewer to look for the bug, and a caption that poses the question. Mark where the pause starts and ends.
05
Record with your voice
TikTok video in Tareno needs sound, so narrate. Record vertically, check the frame for private data and add the file to your library.
06
Read options, save and approve
Codex reads the creator options with get_platform_options and saves the draft through create_drafts. Ask for a time with a date and an IANA time zone, and approve the pending request in the Tareno dashboard.
Prompts to copy
Pick the bug
Look through exercises/ and pick a bug that fits in ten lines of Python and that students make often. Run the buggy and the fixed version and paste both outputs. Explain in two sentences what the mistake is, and do not write the script yet.
Script with the pause
Write a 30-second spoken script for a vertical screen recording of that bug: the setup in one sentence, three seconds of silence marked [PAUSE] for the viewer to find the bug, the answer and a one-line rule. Add a caption with a question to viewers and four hashtags.
Options and draft
Use Tareno to read the TikTok creator options for my account [name]. After I choose a privacy level, find [bug-off-by-one.mp4] in my media library and save it as a TikTok draft with the caption above, and tell me if the clip has no audio track.
Request the slot
Ask Tareno to schedule draft [draft ID] for [Wednesday 17:30] in the [Europe/Berlin] time zone. Return the pending action ID and tell me clearly that the clip is not scheduled until I approve it in the Tareno dashboard.

What Tareno can read
posts published outside Tareno: yes; comments: no; transcripts: yes; video download: yes
Network-specific
creator settings come from get_platform_options (tiktok_creator_info)
As configured in Tareno on 2026-10-24. The live rules for your own account come from the get_platform_schema tool.
What TikTok itself documents
Direct posting needs an app that is approved for the video.publish scope. Content posted by unaudited clients is restricted to private viewing until the client passes TikTok's audit.
Before a direct post, the creator's current options must be queried: the allowed privacy levels, whether comments, duets and stitches are disabled, and the maximum video duration. In Tareno this is get_platform_options with the option tiktok_creator_info.
Spot-the-bug content depends on a pause, and TikTok video in Tareno requires an audio track, so the silence has to be recorded as part of a clip that also has your voice.
TikTok captions in Tareno are long enough for a question and hashtags, but links are not supported, so the repository goes in your bio.
Tareno exposes TikTok's creator options as a read tool, which tells you the allowed privacy levels and the comment setting before the draft is saved.
Comments are where learners post their answers, but Tareno cannot read TikTok comments, so you read them in the app.
What does not work
Codex cannot record the screen or your voice, so the clip has to exist in your Tareno media library before a draft can be saved.
It cannot read the comments where learners post their answers, because comment reading is not available for TikTok in Tareno.
It cannot put a clip on TikTok on its own, because a time request becomes a post only after you approve it in the Tareno dashboard.
Mistakes to avoid
Showing a bug that needs scrolling. If the code does not fit on one screen, viewers cannot find the mistake.
Recording without a voice. TikTok video in Tareno needs sound, and the narration is also what holds attention.
Skipping the run. A bug that behaves differently than the script claims turns a teaching clip into an embarrassment.
Using real student code. Write examples for teaching so nobody's work is shown without permission.
Open the published Tareno listing, choose install or connect, and complete the Tareno login. Enable Tareno in a new conversation. For Claude, search for Tareno in the supported plugin directory.
Choose OAuth, connect and sign in with your own Tareno account. Check the requested permissions. Refresh the client's tool list after authorization.
Run list_accounts first. Confirm the returned workspace and account IDs before creating a draft. If no accounts appear, connect a social account in Tareno first.

Yes. Point it at an exercise repository and it picks a bug that fits on a screen, runs the buggy and the fixed version and reports both outputs. You record the clip and add it to your Tareno library.
What does Codex need from me for a spot-the-bug draft?
A working remote MCP connection with OAuth, the exercise it should read and a recorded clip with sound in your Tareno library. If the clip is missing, Codex reports it and stops before saving a draft.
Does the clip need sound?
Yes. Tareno's configuration for TikTok video lists an audio track as required, so record narration. It also makes the pause before the answer work, because viewers hear the silence.
Can the caption link to my repository?
No. Links are not supported in the TikTok text in Tareno's configuration. Put the link in your bio and say in the caption that the exercises are linked in the profile.
Can Codex read the answers viewers comment?
No. Tareno has no comment reading for TikTok. Read the comments in the app and paste the common wrong answers into Codex if you want it to write a follow-up script.
How do I check what is waiting for approval?
Open the pending actions in the Tareno dashboard, or ask Codex for the state with `get_action_status`. A request that you never approved stays pending and TikTok never receives the clip.
