Connect Cursor to Tareno to turn a feature branch and screenshots into a behind-the-scenes Instagram carousel draft, then approve the slot yourself in Tareno.
Can Cursor turn my work in progress into an Instagram post through Tareno?
Yes. Cursor sees the branch you are on, so it can draft a behind-the-scenes carousel with captions and alt text and save it as a draft for your Instagram account in Tareno. You supply public screenshots and decide what is safe to show. Scheduling creates a pending action that you approve in Tareno, and nothing is published from the editor.
Builders who share their process gain followers who care about the product before it exists. Instagram suits the visual side of that: a before-and-after screen, a messy sketch, the first working version. Cursor knows what you are building because it sits in your editor, which makes it a quick way to turn a day's work into a carousel. This page covers the route from branch to draft for a solo founder, including the one rule that matters most for build-in-public content: decide what must stay private before an image leaves your machine.
Example: a solo founder shares week three of a habit-tracking app
Think of a founder who builds a habit-tracking app alone and posts every Friday. In Cursor she asks for a summary of what changed on the current branch this week and which screens are visible to users. She picks three screens, exports them without the test account's email address, and hosts them at public HTTPS links. Cursor drafts five slides: the problem she was solving, the old screen, the new screen, one thing that did not work and what comes next. It writes the caption and alt text, adds the images through upload_media_from_url and saves the carousel with create_drafts. She reads the draft in Tareno, shortens the caption and asks for Friday 18:00 in her time zone. The slot waits as a pending action until she approves it.
Step by step
01
Ask for the week in plain words
Have Cursor summarize the changes on your branch that a user would see, and separate them from refactors and experiments. A behind-the-scenes story needs a few visible moments, not a list of commits.
02
Decide what stays private
Before any screenshot is exported, list what must not appear: keys, emails, customer names, unreleased pricing. Cursor can describe each image so you can check, but the decision is yours.
03
Host the images publicly
Tareno takes media as public HTTPS URLs. Host the screenshots, then let Cursor add them with upload_media_from_url; a file that only exists in your project folder cannot be used.
04
Draft the story and the alt text
Ask for a short slide sequence with one idea per slide, a caption and alt text that says what is on each screen. Keep the voice yours: ask Cursor to read your earlier captions through Tareno first.
05
Save the carousel as a draft
Cursor saves the images in order through create_drafts. Open the draft in Tareno and swipe through it before you consider a time.
06
Request a slot and approve it
Give a date, a time and an IANA time zone. Tareno holds the request as a pending action until you approve it in the dashboard.
Prompts to copy
Summarize the visible changes
Look at the changes on this branch since [Monday] and list only what a user would notice on screen. Group them by screen and tell me which three would make the best before-and-after pair for an Instagram carousel. Do not draft anything yet.
Check an image for private data
I am about to publish these screenshots: [file names]. Describe what is visible in each one and flag any email address, API key, username, customer name or unreleased price. Tell me which ones I must redo.
Match my voice
Use Tareno to list my last ten Instagram posts and describe my tone in three sentences. Then write five slides and a caption about [this week's change] in that tone, and save them as an Instagram carousel draft for [account name]. Show me the text first.
Request the slot
Ask Tareno to schedule draft [draft ID] for [Friday 18:00] in the [Europe/Lisbon] time zone. Return the pending action ID and remind me that the carousel is not scheduled until I approve it in the Tareno dashboard.

What Instagram itself documents
API publishing is limited to Instagram professional accounts. If the account is linked to a Page that requires Page Publishing Authorization, it cannot publish until that authorization is complete.
A carousel can hold up to 20 images or videos, mixed. Tareno's own composer configuration lists up to 10 images per Instagram post.
Alt text sent through the API applies to image posts only; reels and stories do not support it.
Instagram requires media. Tareno's configuration rejects a post without an image or a video, so a build-in-public post always needs at least one visual.
Tareno takes alt text of up to 1,000 characters per media item. Instagram's documentation lists alt text for image posts and says reels and stories do not support it, so a carousel of images is the format where it helps.
Instagram's documentation says API publishing is limited to professional accounts, so a personal account has to be switched before it can be connected.
Tareno can list earlier posts of the connected Instagram account, which lets Cursor learn your tone from posts you wrote yourself.
What does not work
Cursor cannot decide what is safe to show, so the check for keys, emails and customer data stays with you before any image is hosted.
It cannot publish the carousel by itself, because every scheduling or publishing request waits for your approval in the Tareno dashboard.
It cannot use screenshots that only exist on your machine, since Tareno needs public HTTPS addresses for media.
Mistakes to avoid
Exporting a screenshot with a test account's email or a staging URL in the corner. Check the edges of every image, not just the middle.
Showing a feature that may change before release. Say "work in progress" on the slide, so followers do not read it as a promise.
Posting only wins. A slide about what did not work usually earns more trust than a fifth screenshot of the same screen.
Letting Cursor write in a generic launch voice. Give it three of your own captions first, so the post sounds like you.
Open the client's MCP server settings. Add Tareno with the HTTPS endpoint below using Streamable HTTP. This requires support for authenticated remote MCP, not just local stdio servers.
Choose OAuth, connect and sign in with your own Tareno account. Check the requested permissions. Refresh the client's tool list after authorization.
Run list_accounts first. Confirm the returned workspace and account IDs before creating a draft. If no accounts appear, connect a social account in Tareno first.

Can Cursor draft Instagram posts from the code I am writing?
Yes. Cursor sees the branch, so it can summarize what changed and draft a behind-the-scenes carousel, then save it through Tareno as a draft for your Instagram account. You supply the screenshots and decide what is safe to show.
How do I get Tareno into Cursor?
Install Tareno from its listing in the community Cursor Directory or add an mcp.json entry with the hosted endpoint, then sign in with your Tareno account. The Cursor hub page lists the commands that check the registration.
Can Cursor keep my posts in my own voice?
It can list your earlier Instagram posts through Tareno and describe your tone, then write the new caption to match. Check the result, because a description of tone is only a starting point, not a guarantee.
Do screenshots have to be public?
Yes. Tareno takes media as public HTTPS URLs, so images have to be hosted before Cursor can add them with `upload_media_from_url`. Images that only exist in your project folder cannot be used for a post.
Will Cursor post without asking?
No. A scheduling or publishing request becomes a pending action in Tareno and waits for your approval in the dashboard. Cursor can only report that it is pending and read the result later.
Is Cursor Cloud Agents supported for this?
This page covers the Cursor editor. Cursor Cloud Agents are a separate product surface that we track separately, and we do not claim support for them here.
