Use Claude with Tareno to turn one announcement into three X posts within 280 characters, pick the best with a plain reason, and save it as a draft you approve in Tareno.
Can Claude write a few versions of one announcement for X and save the one I choose?
Yes. Claude takes your announcement and tone notes, writes three versions that each fit 280 characters, explains how they differ and saves the one you pick as a draft through Tareno. Tareno saves single posts, so this is not a thread tool. Scheduling stays pending until you approve it in Tareno.
On X the whole message has to fit in a space smaller than this paragraph's first sentence, and most announcements are written for a page, not for that space. Cutting them down is a writing skill: choose the one fact that matters, keep the name, drop the adjectives. Claude is good at producing several compact versions quickly and at saying why they differ, which turns a blank-page problem into a choice. This page follows a small publisher announcing a book launch, from the announcement to the one post that is saved, and it is explicit about the limits of what Tareno can do on X today.
Example: an independent publisher announces a book launch
Imagine a three-person publisher with a launch evening for a poetry collection. The editor pastes the two-paragraph announcement into a Claude Project that holds the house tone notes. She asks for three versions of one post: one leading with the author, one with the date and place, one with a line from the book. Claude writes all three within 280 characters, counts them, and says that the first reads best to followers who know the author while the second suits people who do not. She picks the date version, Claude checks the date against the announcement, finds the venue spelled two ways and asks which one is right. After the fix it saves the draft with create_drafts, and she requests a Tuesday 12:00 slot in Tareno.
Step by step
01
Give the announcement and the tone notes
Paste the announcement into a Claude Project that holds your tone notes. Claude cannot guess which of your facts is the headline, so tell it which one must survive the cut.
02
Ask for versions that differ in what they lead with
Request three posts that each fit in 280 characters but open differently: with the person, with the date and place, with a quote. Versions that only rephrase one another give you nothing to choose between.
03
Make Claude count
Ask for the character count of each version and for a rewrite of any that is over. A post that is a few characters too long cannot be saved for X, and counting by eye is how that happens.
04
Choose and verify
Pick one version and ask Claude to list every date, name, place and link in it next to the sentence of the announcement it comes from. Fix the announcement or the post wherever they disagree.
05
Save the draft for your X account
Claude confirms the account with list_accounts and saves the chosen text through create_drafts. If there is a photo, it is attached from the library; X takes up to four photos in a post.
06
Request a time and approve it
Give a day, a time and an IANA time zone. The request becomes a pending action, and you approve it in the Tareno dashboard before anything is sent to X.
Prompts to copy
Three different openings
Use the announcement and tone notes in this Project. Write three versions of one X post that each fit in 280 characters: one that opens with the author, one that opens with the date and venue, and one that opens with a line from the book. Give me the character count of each and one sentence on who it suits best.
Count and cut
Count the characters of each version again and rewrite any version that is over 280 without removing the date, the venue name or the ticket link. Show me what you removed, so I can decide whether the cut cost something important.
Verify the chosen version
I choose version [2]. List every date, time, name and link it contains, each next to the sentence in the announcement it comes from, and tell me where the announcement spells something in two ways. Do not save anything to Tareno before I confirm the list.
Save for my account
Use Tareno to confirm my X account [handle] and save the approved text as a draft. Return the draft ID and the exact text, and tell me that nothing is scheduled until I request a time and approve it in the Tareno dashboard.

What Tareno can read
posts published outside Tareno: no; comments: no; transcripts: no; video download: yes
As configured in Tareno on 2026-10-24. The live rules for your own account come from the get_platform_schema tool.
What X itself documents
A post may include up to 4 photos, 1 animated GIF or 1 video.
The allowed video length depends on the posting account, not on the API plan: 20 minutes and 8 GB by default, 125 minutes and 16 GB with X Premium or verified status. Tareno's configuration for X stops at 140 seconds.
Quote-posting through the API requires an Enterprise plan and is not available on self-serve tiers.
Tareno's configuration for X allows 280 characters of text with hashtags and mentions, and it has no formatting, so bold or bullet lists from a draft in Claude do not survive.
A post on X may carry up to four photos, one animated GIF or one video, according to X's API documentation, so a launch photo and a text can go together.
Tareno cannot read posts or replies on X, so Claude cannot compare your launch post with how earlier ones performed.
Tareno saves single posts for X; it has no thread tool, so a longer story is better told in a link to a page than in a numbered sequence.
What does not work
Claude cannot create a thread for X through Tareno, because the tools save a single post per draft and have no thread parameter.
It cannot read replies or earlier posts on X through Tareno, so it works from the text you provide rather than from your timeline.
It cannot post on its own, since a time request becomes a post only after you approve it in the Tareno dashboard.
Mistakes to avoid
Choosing a version because it sounds clever. Ask which one a stranger would understand without knowing the author.
Letting Claude shorten a name. Cut an adjective before you cut a name, a date or a place.
Asking for a thread and expecting it to be saved. Tareno stores one post at a time, so write the single post that points to the longer text.
Forgetting that a hashtag takes characters too. Count after you add it.
Open the published Tareno listing, choose install or connect, and complete the Tareno login. Enable Tareno in a new conversation. For Claude, search for Tareno in the supported plugin directory.
Choose OAuth, connect and sign in with your own Tareno account. Check the requested permissions. Refresh the client's tool list after authorization.
Run list_accounts first. Confirm the returned workspace and account IDs before creating a draft. If no accounts appear, connect a social account in Tareno first.

Use the same Tareno account across supported clients. Open the relevant setup guide for authentication, first use, reconnect, and revocation.
Because choosing is easier than rewriting. Three versions that open differently show you what the post could emphasize, and Claude can say who each suits. You keep the decision, and the one you pick gets checked against the announcement.
Does Claude count characters reliably?
Ask it to count and to show the count, then check the final text in Tareno before you request a time. Tareno's configuration for X allows 280 characters, so a version that is over cannot be used as it is.
Can Claude write a thread for X?
It can write the text of one, but Tareno cannot save it as a thread. The tools store a single post per draft, so use one post and a link, or post a thread by hand from the text Claude wrote.
Can I attach a photo to the saved draft?
Yes. X allows up to four photos, one animated GIF or one video per post, and Claude can pick the file from your Tareno library when you name it. Add alt text if your account uses it.
Does Claude see how my earlier posts did?
Not on X. Tareno does not read posts or replies on X, so Claude works from the text and context you give it. If you paste earlier posts into the Project, it can learn your tone from them.
Will Claude publish the post by itself?
No. A scheduling request becomes a pending action in Tareno, and X receives the post only after you approve it in the dashboard. `get_action_status` shows what happened afterwards.
